How this outfit generator works

Random outfit generators are fun, but most of them throw together pieces that would never work in real life. This one is random inside rules. It picks one colour palette per outfit, only uses pieces that suit the temperature and occasion, and leans towards the style you choose. That gives you hundreds of combinations that still make sense.

Ways to use it

• Break a style rut. Pick a style you never wear, like edgy or minimalist, and see which ideas you could pull off with your own clothes.
• Plan a capsule wardrobe. Shuffle ten times and note which pieces keep appearing. Those are your most versatile basics.
• Content and challenges. Use "Randomize everything" for an "I let a generator dress me" video, or challenge a friend to recreate outfit B from their closet.
• Packing for a trip. Set the destination's weather and generate outfits for each plan you have.

The colour palettes

Each palette has a main colour, a second colour, a neutral, a shoe colour and an accent. Examples include navy and cream, all black with silver, earthy olive and oatmeal, soft lavender, cobalt with tomato red, sage and sand, camel classic and terracotta with ivory. They are classic combinations that are hard to get wrong.

Make it yours

If a suggestion includes something you do not own, swap it for the closest thing you have in a similar colour and level of dressiness. The outfit will still work, because the colours and proportions do most of the job.

Tips for better results

Set the real temperature first: the generator never puts a puffer coat on a 90°F day, so accurate weather gives more useful ideas. Use Shuffle a few times before changing the style, because each shuffle builds three fresh outfits from different palettes.
